Privacy Policy
Effective 3 November 2026
This policy explains what personal data Nomoku (Nomoku, “we”) collects, why, and the choices you have. We collect only what we need to match you with remote jobs and run your account. We don't sell your data and we don't show ads.
1. What we collect
Information you give us
- Account: your email address, and your name if you provide it or sign in with Google (Google shares your name, email and profile picture with us).
- Onboarding answers: the country and city you live in, the kind of work, experience level and job titles you're looking for, job types, your income goal, when you'd like to start, your current work status and how you're approaching your search, and your answers to a few “does this sound like you?” questions.
- Job preferences: the filters you save as your defaults.
- Messages: anything you send us by email.
Information collected automatically
- Approximate location: the country and city associated with your internet connection, provided by our hosting provider. We use it only to pre-fill your country and city and to show prices for your region. We don't collect GPS or precise location.
- Technical data: IP address, browser and device information and request logs, kept by our hosting and database providers for security and troubleshooting.
Payments
Payments are handled by Dodo Payments, the merchant of record. We never see or store your full card or bank details. Dodo tells us your subscription status, plan, renewal date and a customer reference, which we store to give you access.
2. How we use it
- to create and secure your account and sign you in;
- to show jobs you can apply to from your country and pre-select filters from your answers;
- to show prices in your region's currency and manage your plan;
- to send emails you need, such as sign-in links and important account or billing notices;
- to understand, in aggregate, what our members are looking for so we can improve the Service;
- to prevent fraud and abuse and to meet legal obligations.
Our legal bases (where GDPR or similar laws apply) are: performing our contract with you (your account and plan), our legitimate interests (security, improving the Service), your consent where we ask for it, and legal obligations (for example tax records).
3. Cookies and local storage
- Sign-in cookies keep you logged in. They're essential and can't be switched off.
- An onboarding cookie holds your answers for up to 7 days while you confirm your email, then is deleted once they're saved to your account.
- Browser local storage remembers your onboarding progress so a refresh doesn't lose your answers. It's cleared when you finish.
We don't use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
4. Who we share it with
We share data only with service providers that help us run Nomoku, under contracts that protect it:
- Supabase: database and sign-in (data stored in the EU, Frankfurt);
- Vercel: website hosting;
- Dodo Payments: payments, tax and invoicing;
- Google: only if you choose to sign in with Google;
- Our email provider: to deliver sign-in links and account emails.
Employers don't see your profile. When you apply to a job, you do so on the employer's own website, and what you share there is governed by their privacy policy, not ours. We may also disclose data if required by law or to protect our users and the Service.
5. International transfers
Our providers may process data outside your country, including in the EU and the United States. Where required, we rely on safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
6. How long we keep it
We keep your account and answers while your account is open. If you delete your account we delete your personal data within 30 days, except billing records we must keep for tax and accounting (usually several years) and backups that expire on a rolling schedule.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR, India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, or US state laws such as the CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, download or delete your data, to object to or restrict some uses, and to withdraw consent. Email support@nomoku.com and we'll respond within 30 days. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
8. Security
We use encryption in transit, access controls and row-level security in our database so members can only access their own data. No system is perfectly secure, and we'll notify you and the relevant authorities of a breach where the law requires.
9. Children
Nomoku is for adults looking for work. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
10. Changes
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we'll tell you by email or in the Service before the change takes effect.
11. Contact
